Dr Paula Espinoza Peña (Acupuncture)
Movement and connecting with my body has always been a big part of my identity.
Throughout my teens, I was a professional tennis player. The high-level training and competition came with challenges, and taught me to connect with my body and mind, including juggling performance with recovery and injuries. When managing a particularly persistent injury, I experienced Tuina (Chinese Remedial Massage) for the first time and something clicked. My positive experience sparked my interest in acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and how the body heals.
I started studying in 2012, then worked in Chile before moving to Melbourne in 2019 to further my studies while gaining more experience in remedial massage therapy. Now, I combine the best of Chinese medicine, body work approaches and my life experience to assist others in their health journey.
For me, healing isn’t about a quick fix, but understanding and listening to what the body is trying to tell you.
My approach
Everyone’s health journey is different and shaped by experience, environment and life rhythms - or body trails. I value grounded, personalised care that gives the best outcome for the individual. That includes managing pain, hormonal changes, stress or chronic conditions.
My interests
My clinical interests include orthopaedics, sport performance, injury rehab, women’s health, mental health and chronic and autoimmune health. I particularly love working with women, athletes and those who are active people or nature lovers.
Outside of work, I like to be active and immersed in nature and enjoy running, hiking and travelling.
My life beyond the clinic is about interacting with different cultures and learning through experiences, while also spending time with the people who keep me grounded and present.
